About the cottage...

Jim's Cottage is only a short walk to the centre of Holt but has ample parking and a large lawned garden. It retains much of its original charm with uneven plaster, stripped wooden doors, oak floors, open fireplace and steep stairs. However, it has a fully fitted kitchen, bathroom and gas central heating.

Downstairs is the lounge with dining table and chairs, open fireplace, TV, video, CD player/radio, books, videos and games. Logs for the fire are provided free of charge. One of the most frequent comments in the guest book is every comfort.

The kitchen was refurbished in 2007 with new tiling, worktops, sink, taps and cooker with ceramic hob and double oven. There is a pull out table, fridge, electric cooker, microwave and toaster, fridgefreezer and an automatic washing machine in the outhouse.

The Bathroom is also downstairs. It was completely refitted in 2010 with bath, washbasin, shower and toilet. There is also a hallway large enough for a buggy, muddy boots and a coat rack.

Upstairs there is a small double bedroom with brass bedstead, wardrobe and chest of drawers that overlooks the garden and trees. The mattress and bedding is all excellent quality. The second bedroom is larger with two pine single beds, a double wardrobe, a chest of drawers and a bedside table.

At the rear of the cottage is a is a path leading to the rear of the other cottages as they used to share a communal water pump. Each cottage has large brick and flint outhouse and in ours is an automatic washing machine, freezer and secure storage for bicycles, pushchairs etc.

There is also the original row of outside toilets, although the toilet has been removed from ours and it now contains logs for the fire.

All linen and tea towels are supplied but not towels.
