This quaint terraced cottage is situated in the heart of Blakeney close to everything you require for a family holiday or a quiet break for couples. The cottage is owned by the Bishop family who also run seal trips from the village and live next door but one. We are happy to offer your party a complementary seal trip.
The small south facing patio garden has a table and chairs and a small barbeque.
A stable style door leads to the sitting room which is equipped with a dining table and chairs, with comfortable seating around the open fire. The new kitchen was fitted in spring 2007 and has a cooker, hob, microwave, fridge freezer and washing machine. All the required utensils are provided. The winding stairs take you up to three bedrooms, a large double, a small single and a bunk-bedroom for children. Unique step up and sit in bath with shower over. Fresh linen and bath towels are provided each week, but please bring your own beach towels
Blakeney is regarded as one of the gems, if not the gem, of the Norfolk coast.
With narrow streets boarded by old flint cottages, Blakeney was once a thriving sea-port.
Land reclamation, sea defences and nature have caused the harbour to gently silt up over the years. The tide still visits twice per day and regularly covers the marshes and the quay. The quayside lined with children and adults alike, is quite a sight in the summer trying that timeless art of gillie catching (small crabs).
The surrounding area is full of natural beauty and is ideal for nature lovers, artists, walkers and cyclists alike, anytime of year. We also have world renowned bird reserves at Cley and Blakeney Point with its resident seal colony. We are surrounded by small unspoilt villages and just a short distance away to the west is Wells-next-the-sea, with the Burnham’s a bit further on with many links to Nelson. Further still is Hunstanton with colourful cliffs and the Sea Life Centre. To the east are Sheringham and Cromer, famous for its crabs and lifeboats. Inland is the historic town of Holt packed with antique shops, boutiques and collectables, a little further on is Fakeneham, well-known for its market days and horse races. Within close proximity to Blakeney are Steam Train rides, the Mucklebourough collection of war vehicles and memorabilia, the Thursford Steam collection, there are also Thai, Indian and Chinese restaurants and take-a ways. Throughout the year both Thursford and Cromer Pier offer plenty of entertainment. Norwich is our nearest city, about twenty fives miles away, and apart from the beautiful cathedral, churches, castle and museums and a selection of theatres and cinemas, it is fast becoming a favourite shopping spot with several new malls recently opened. Norwich is also our nearest International airport.
